Music This Week - October 10-16
It's so cold in the mornings and evenings now! Luckily you can spend your evenings indoors taking in some music, but I don't know what to tell you for the mornings - maybe start wearing your toque, even though it seems too early for winter accessories? I think that's what I'm going to do.
Thursday Get your music early today as Music in the Morning presents baritone Russell Braun with Carolyn Maule and lunchtime concerts give you the option of the UBC Symphony Orchestra or Tunes at Noon - Amanda Andrishak
Friday Today is another presentation of Russell Braun with Carolyn Maule and in the evening the UBC Symphony Orchestra presents Debussy, Carrabré & Rachmaninoff while the VSO presents Along The Danube: Strauss, Schubert, Brahms And Bartók in Surrey, or head over to 8east to see Page, Hasselberg, Korsrud, Schmidt, Reed, Loewen
Saturday The music starts in the afternoon as Yarilo presents En El Escuro Es Todo Uno (read more about it in my interview with Anna Levy), and the Lionsgate Sinfonia opens their season with Pianos Galore and Pianist Glorious!, the VSO has another performance of Along The Danube: Strauss, Schubert, Brahms And Bartók and there is also a pop-up concert of Outsiders Fest in BC: Jamaaladeen Tacuma & Aram Bajakian
Sunday Head over to the Orpheum as the Vancouver Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra presents Postcards from Afar: Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony and Friends of Chamber Music presents the Bennewitz Quartet
Tuesday Make your way to Notional Space for Artemis: On Loneliness
Wednesday And for your mid-week music fix, UBC is here to help with Wednesday Noon Hours — Great Bach Sonatas
Stay warm out there!
