Music This Week - October 31 - November 6

What a great week for music! There's a lot happening, most notably Music on Main's Modulus Festival, and whether you want some early music, movie music, dance music, a sound installation, tales of lost loves or one of the many other things in between, Vancouver is the place to be.

Thursday Don't let your Halloween celebrations keep you from Tunes at Noon - Isabelle Boersig, piano and the VSO's One Night in Vienna and also if you have extra candy just send it my way

Friday Music on Main kicks everything off with the Modulus Festival Launch Party followed by Dowland Lachrimae feat. Les Voix Humaines & Lutenist Nigel North, a co-presentation with Early Music Vancouver, and finishes up with Modulus Late Night. If you're wanting to hear some orchestra music, tonight is also UBC Symphony Orchestra – Prokofiev and Dvorak, and the VSO presents Casablanca

Saturday Modulus Festival starts off the day with The Big Picture: Today’s Artist followed by Still Life with Avalanche and The Oyster Princess and other options for tonight are UBC Opera's Les Contes d’Hoffmann, the Chan Centre's Flamenco Legends: The Paco de Lucía Project and another presentation of the VSO in Casablanca

Sunday UBC Opera has another performance of Les Contes d’Hoffmann while the VSO performs Orchestra from Planet X, part of their Kid's Concert Series, and the Vancouver Recital Society presents Danish String Quartet. The Modulus Festival's festivities for today start with a Free Concert at the Roundhouse, followed by Nancy Tam’s Walking At Night By Myself, and wrapping up the day with John Luther Adams’ Ilimaq

Monday Today is the first day of Redshift Music's Infinity Mirror, a sonic installation of Jordan Nobles' work of the same name, performed by Adrian Verdejo at the CMC’s Murray Adaskin Salon

Tuesday Redshift Music's Infinity Mirror continues today, drop by sometime between 12-5

Wednesday Mid-week music fix indeed! Today you can head to UBC for Wednesday Noon Hours — Michelle Mares and Mark Anderson, catch Redshift Music's Infinity Mirror, and/or go see Rufus Wainwright with the VSO, because you know you're in the mood for some popera
